The Christmas season has arrived once again at its appointed time. It is my wife's favorite time of the year. This is our wreath for the holiday season. It was inspired by our recent visit to colonial Williamsburg for their "Grand Illumination." It marks the beginning of the holiday season each year. At the appointed time, usually about 6:15 p.m., candles are "illuminated" in all the colonial homes and a spectacular fireworks display begins. The fireworks are set off in three different places: in front of the armory, the governor's mansion, and around the House of Burgesses at the end of Duke of Glouster street. The last venue is our favorite because the crowd is much smaller and you are much nearer the fireworks. You can actually smell the kordite, and sometimes ash actually falls on you. WHOA!!!!We have made this trek this for quite a few years now. It has become a pleasant way to begin our Christmas season. The size of the crowd increases each year exponentially. Alas, we may have to find another way to welcome the holiday season if that continues to be the trend. Our son kris, his wife Kara, and their two children Chase and Maia were able to come for the parade Saturday morning. We had a great time and went to dinner at Sal's by Victor Saturday evening. A good time was had by all. They had to leave early Saturday morning for a long drive back to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Kris had an early flight to Houston Monday morning on business. They didn't want drive back late Sunday night. Perhaps they can come and stay for the "Grand Illumination"another year. We hope so.

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good day!

Getting Started

this is my 2nd attempt at blogging....first was an exercise in learning how to use this software as well as hello to communicate with my sister in fla......we both have hearing issues, so this should be a good way to share thoughts and pictures using pacasa......i'm going to get rid of the other one (Trekker) and realistically try to get this going.....it would be nice to use this as a personal journal as well.....we'll see....one thing for certain is that spelling, punctuation and approprite grammar will only be tolerated to the extent that they are realistically needed....
